2022 Windsor Election Rose City Politics Candidate Questionnaire answers:

1. What is your prior political experience?

4 years city councillor

2. Why are you running?

I love what I do in this role. I want to be involved in making important decisions that affects everyone’s everyday lives. I get great satisfaction when I can assist someone with an issue affecting them.

3. What do you do currently for a living?

I am a full time Councillor

4. What is the biggest issue affecting the ward you are running for?

Traffic issues seem to take up a lot of my time. I am implementing some traffic calming initiatives and I have been pushing work on Dominion which will now begin next year. I continue to work on active transportation with the Dougal Underpass done and the trail is currently extending up Dougall, connecting with Eugenie providing a pathway to the core.

5. What is the biggest issue affecting the city of Windsor?

We, like other cities are facing unprecedented challenges with homelessness, opoid addiction and affordable housing, which are often connected. I was a strong advocate for the Consumption Treatment Site and we are moving forward and I support the H4 Hub.

6. Are you seeking any endorsements?

No

7. Have you received any endorsements?

No

8. Will you continue the “hold the line on taxes” policy?

I’ve never been a supporter of “hold the line on taxes”. It may have been needed years ago, but it went on too long as our roads, sewers and infrastructure deteriorated. It is costing us now. I have used 2% tax increases as a starting point as it normally covers inflation. It is a bigger challenge now.

9. Do you support the mega-hospital location?

I don’t focus on the location as much as getting it built as quickly as possible and debating the location forever will not get it done quickly. I also have always said that we need 24 hour emergency care downtown and that will happen.

10. Do you support strong mayor legislation?

Firstly, I don’t have any say on this, but at this point, my thinking is that it is not needed as long as council works together to make Windsor a better place. Maybe things are different in Toronto and Ottawa.

11. Should the city use taxpayers dollars to bring jobs to the area?

If you mean, should we provide incentives for landing a factory that will bring thousands of jobs and ensure the prosperity of our city, then absolutely yes. Don’t forget we will also be using taxpayer funds at the provincial level to train the skilled workforce we will need.

12. If you are running in a ward with an incumbent who is also running, why is change necessary, and why are you the person to deliver it?

I am the incumbent. We need a steady hand with experience to see significant projects to completion.

13. How many hours per week do you plan to allocate towards council business if elected?

I work 40 – 50 hours a week.

14. Do you live in the ward you are running for?

Yes

15. What agencies, boards, or committees do/have you served on, and in what capacity?

Steering Committees- Planning, Development, Heritage, Community Services and Parks

Boards- Public Library, ERCA, EWSWA;

Advisory Committees- Seniors, Public Art, City Hall Plaza and Esplanade;

Enwin Boards- Windsor Utilities Commission, Audit and Finance, Governance, Windsor Canada Utilities, Enwin Energy.

16. What person, animal or fictional character should be Windsor’s unofficial mascot?

“Mobility Man” is my own creation that has an electric bolt across his chest. He would be able to supercharge any vehicle, including trains and buses to get to their destination in fast laneways without conflict with other users.
