Almost all of the 11 hopefuls running in the Ward 7 byelection are expected to be present to share their views at the first all-candidates’ debate being presented Wednesday night by the hosts of CJAM radio’s Rose City Politics.
“They’ll be very simple questions…. it will help voters develop a clearer picture with respect to each of these candidates.”Debate moderator Kieran McKenzie of Rose City Politics
The two-hour live broadcast on 99.1 FM radio begins at 7:30 p.m. with each candidate giving a two-minute opening statement followed by a question-and-answer session before the three-member Rose City Politics panel. The debate concludes with 90-second closing statements.
Questions will touch on everything from city tax policy and infrastructure to economic development and zoning. The simplest question, and one that McKenzie hopes elicits the most revealing responses, is: “What do you think is the most pressing issue in Ward 7?”
Ward 7 voters go to the polls Dec. 9.
There is limited seating in the St. Clair Room at the WFCU Centre. In addition to the live broadcast, McKenzie said the debate will be posted on the radio station’s website: www.cjam.ca and search for Rose City Politics.
The candidates are: Ernie The Baconman, Tosin Bello, Robert Bialkowski, Steve Farrell, Robin Fortier, Stavros (Steve) Gavrilidis, Laurie Komon, Irek Kusmierczyk, Angelo Marignani, Clint Weir and Tom Wilson.
